Common questions about using the world clock
This tool calculates time zones based on your device's system clock. Its accuracy depends on your computer being set to the correct time. It's intended for planning and coordination purposes and includes automatic Daylight Saving Time adjustments.
Tokyo and New York are usually 13-14 hours apart depending on daylight-saving time. There is no universally best window; use the Meeting Finder to compare its app-defined office-hours scores and rotate inconvenient times when appropriate.
You can add cities from the tool’s curated list of 34 locations. For easier viewing, consider tracking 4-8 cities at once. Collections add predefined groups for the current session.
Business Hours means 9:00 AM through 5:59 PM in that city, Daytime means 6:00 AM through 9:59 PM, and Nighttime covers the remaining hours. These labels are planning cues, not statements about a person’s actual availability.
DST can shift meeting times by 1 hour when regions change at different dates. Our clock handles this automatically, but always reconfirm standing meetings during DST transition weeks (March/November).
The displayed times use your device clock and the browser’s IANA time-zone data. The current implementation does not save selected cities between browser sessions.
Select the team cities, then choose “Find Meeting Times.” The 0-100 score is an application-defined heuristic: 9:00-17:59 scores highest, 8:00-18:59 scores next, and 7:00-20:59 receives partial credit. Treat it as a comparison aid and consider rotating meeting times.
